Support safety

The most important thing that anyone needs when in danger or distress is a place of safety to retreat to. This is what has started to be provided by the CHASTE round table on safe housing – with 2/5 of the UKs safe housing provided by members of the CHASTE network – the Medaille Trust and the Salvation Army.  If you have the desire, resources and vision to provide safe housing on the CHASTE round table model please be in touch with us to take your exploration forward – housing@chaste.org.uk

CHASTE is looking also for a range of other provision which can provide short term safety when police raid brothels, or secured houses and release women. Sometimes the accomodation which is required is only for 48 hours – before longer term safety provision can be supplied. If you have a hostel which could supply a couple of beds at short notice, or are an all female household with a spare room which could be made available for emergency need – please be in touch with us for us to explore the suitability of such emergency provision. Email housing@chaste.org.uk indicating your potential resource.

At present none of our housing is subsidised in any way by the government. CHASTE has developed our client referral and best practice around safe housing provision purely from the generosity of those who are friends, companions, partners and trust funds. If you would like to participate in resourcing this dimension of our work please donate, or get involved in a sponsored activity which can raise awareness of the needs and safety of victims of trafficking as well as raise the finances needed to take care of them.

Safety is also a concern for those who are being returned to countries of origin once any prosecution they decide to enable is over, For many return to their country of origin can occur within weeks of discovery.  CHASTE is developing a network of lawyers who offer their time and expertise to provide legal advice for those who do not wish to return home. CHASTE is also developing through our international network of partner churches the establishment of reception housing in the country of return, with counselling, skills training, micro business, and where appropriate family reintegration services. We are currently developing similar resources in Nigeria and Romania and are looking for special funds to help us properly resource this work.
