‘Freedom Day’ was announced in 2006, and championed by the the Stop The Traffik campaign and culminated on March 25th 2007, the 200th anniversary of the passing of the Parliamentary Bill to abolish the slave trade in the British colonies.

There were major 'Freedom Day' music festivals in London and New York. However, at the heart of Freedom Day were thousands of local events organised by coalition members and supporters whether individuals, local charities, schools, clubs and faith groups in towns and cities around the world.
